Schwarbers 3 Hr 5 Hit Night Matched By Only 1 Phillie In History

Schwarber's 3-HR, 5-hit night matched by only 1 Phillie in history

Schwarber terrorizes Nationals pitching

Kyle Schwarber put together one of the most impressive offensive performances in Phillies history on Tuesday night against the Washington Nationals.

Schwarber went 5-for-5 with three home runs, a double, and two singles. He drove in six runs and scored four times.

The only other Phillie to have a 3-HR, 5-hit game was Mike Schmidt on July 27, 1976.

Historic night for Schwarber

Schwarber's performance was particularly impressive considering that he had been struggling at the plate lately.

He had just one hit in his previous 23 at-bats before Tuesday night's game.

But Schwarber broke out of his slump in a big way against the Nationals.

He hit a solo home run in the first inning, a two-run homer in the third, and a three-run homer in the fifth.

Schwarber also singled in the sixth and eighth innings.

Schwarber's hot start with the Phillies

Schwarber has been one of the most productive hitters in baseball since joining the Phillies in a trade with the Nationals in April.

He is batting .310 with 16 home runs and 46 RBIs in 54 games with Philadelphia.

Schwarber's performance has helped the Phillies stay in contention in the NL East.

They are currently in third place, just 3.5 games behind the first-place New York Mets.
