On Sunday, during Ballard's coverage of the women's 4x100m freestyle relay, which Australia had just won, he was recorded saying, "Well, there's the gold for the Australian women. And they're all big girls, aren't they?"
Ballard's comments sparked immediate outrage on social media, with many accusing him of sexism and body-shaming. Eurosport responded swiftly, issuing a statement on Monday that it had "terminated its relationship with Bob Ballard with immediate effect."
